Do you see the “not secure” notice?

Post by Irfanabdulla1111 »

GlobalSign , a company that provides SSL and Internet services, found in a European web security survey that 9 out of 10 Internet users are more likely to trust a website if it has security indicators and are more likely to provide personal data or make a purchase if they know their data will be sent through a secure connection.

One of the key findings of GlobalSign's study was the discovery that the green "https" padlock that appears in your browser on an HTTPS site provides users with a sense of security.

Migrating to HTTPS - Green Padlock Security

In early January 2017, Chrome 56 began labeling HTTP pages with passwords or credit card forms as “not secure.”

You can see an example of this tag on this website .

This is an attempt to drive web users away from HTTP sites and encourage webmasters and developers to develop websites using "secure" HTTPS.

To avoid this tag on your pages, this Google Developers post suggests making sure that all input fields and forms containing <input type=password> on your site are served over HTTPS.

In an ideal world, your entire site should be HTTPS, but you can avoid the "not secure" label on credit card and password pages with a secure layer.

Better referral traffic data
Another reason you might want to migrate your site to HTTPS is because data referred from HTTPS to HTTP is blocked in Google Analytics.

For example, let's say your website is using the HTTP protocol and you receive email database usa a link to your site from a popular website, such as Reddit, that uses HTTPS.

You will not be able to see referral traffic data in your Google Analytics.

Instead, they will appear as “direct traffic,” which doesn’t give you much valuable information.

For these and other reasons, the use of HTTPS is becoming increasingly popular among website owners.

To learn more about this topic, we conducted research using SEMrush data to find out exactly how popular this protocol is among the top domains.
