Manufacturing process of tarpaulins with heat-sealed eyelets

Post by jrineakter »

One of the star products in the field of digital printing is advertising banners, widely used in advertising and decoration. But what makes a banner have better holding quality? Today we tell you why banners with heat-sealed eyelets ensure a professional finish and a long lifespan.

Types of eyelets or grommets
At Oedim we have eyelets in different materials, shapes and sizes to suit the needs of our customers. Here are some of them:

Normal metal : this is a round chrome-plated brass eyelet, with an inner diameter of 1.7 cm and an outer diameter of 2.7 cm. It is the most popular due to its features and standard size. It is recommended for use on indoor or outdoor tarps larger than 6 m², always with 1300 gr perimeter reinforcement. For tarps smaller than 6 m², the small metal eyelet is recommended.
Transparent polycarbonate : we are talking about a grommet or eyelet that offers high resistance to sudden stresses and tensions. It should be noted that it does not rust, guaranteeing long durability. Its dimensions are 12 mm internal diameter and 25 mm external diameter.
Heat-sealed PVC : refers to a denmark telegram mobile phone number list PVC eyelet that is placed behind the canvas, leaving a small hole visible at the front, making it almost imperceptible. This eyelet has an internal diameter of 15 mm and an external diameter of 38 mm.
Metal oval : this is a galvanised eyelet especially suitable for large tarpaulins (over 60 m²) and has a TIR-type oval shape. This oval eyelet has an internal diameter of 27 mm and an external diameter of 32 mm. It should be noted that, regardless of the one chosen, it is recommended to add perimeter reinforcement in the area where the tarpaulins are placed with eyelets .
How does eyelet heat sealing work?
Heat-sealed eyelets are rings that are integrated into materials such as canvas through a process that applies heat and pressure , which allows the material to be fused without perforating it and with greater firmness.

This procedure uses a machine that heats both the canvas and the eyelet, and then applies pressure to join them, generating a tight and firm fixation that prevents tears , even under conditions of intensive use or exposure to external elements such as wind and rain.

On the other hand, a professional finish is obtained, as the surface is clean, without marks or deformations, which is ideal for advertising or decorative applications that require aesthetic quality. For this reason, heat-sealed eyelets are especially used in large-format advertising banners, banners for events and outdoor signage, among other applications.

Tarps with heat-sealed eyelets: what is the process?
Heat sealing is a specialized process that requires specialized machinery and materials. First, the banner is printed with the desired design. Once ready, the edges are cut to the specified dimensions. Then, reinforcement is applied by folding the edges to prevent the banner from tearing with use. This is essential as it allows the eyelets to be integrated without compromising the integrity of the material.
